At First Westroads Bank, we believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our fundamental responsibilities. We want you to understand how we protect your privacy when we collect and use information about you, and the measures we take to safeguard that information. That is why we welcome the opportunity to describe our privacy policies and the steps we take to protect your customer information.

We want our customers to understand what "Nonpublic Personal Information" is, how we collect it and how we utilize it. "Nonpublic Personal Information" is generally defined as information that is identified with you that is not obtainable from a public source. For example your account balance, income, assets, payment history and account numbers, is "Nonpublic Personal Information". In contrast, the fact that you have a mortgage loan with us is public information because your deed of trust or mortgage is available from public government records.

We collect the following types of customer information:

  • Information about your identity, such as your name, address, telephone number, social security number, assets, debts, and income, that you provide to us on applications, or in other ways when you visit us in person, over the telephone, through the mail or via our website;
  • Information about your transactions and account experience with us or our affiliates, such as, your account balance, payment history, and other transaction records; and
  • Information we receive from a third party, such as credit bureaus, real estate appraisers, and employers.

How we use this information:

Information is important for meeting your needs and providing consistent quality service. Information is also the source of new ideas. We collect and use various types of information to:

  • Deliver products and services tailored for your needs;
  • Know who you are and thereby prevent unauthorized access to your information;
  • Help you effectively manage your financial assets; and
  • Comply with laws and regulations that govern us.

You trust us to care for your financial needs, and you have a right to feel confident that we are responsibly managing your account and information about you. Information must be shared to fulfill your requests, deliver products and services, and administer and update accounts. We limit who receives customer information and what type of information is shared. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law. We will continue to adhere to these privacy policies and practices, even after your account is closed or becomes inactive.

We provide information about you in the following instances:

  • When information is needed to help complete a transaction initiated by you;
  • When you request or authorize us to disclose information about yourself;
  • When a third party is directly or indirectly assisting us in providing financial services to you, such as insurance companies in obtaining mortgage life and disability insurance, mortgage bankers in obtaining a secondary market real estate loan, and other vendors in providing these mortgage services;
  • When certain federal and state statutes warrant the disclosure of information about you. For example, if you are involved in litigation and a subpoena is submitted; When we hire specific reputable companies or vendors to provide operational support, to participate with us in supplying products and services to our customers, or to promote our products and services under a joint agreement; and
  • When we exchange information with credit bureaus to maximize the accuracy and security of such information.

All of the companies and government agencies that we share information with are obligated to keep the information secure and confidential. These companies are not permitted to use our customer information for any purpose other than the service intended.

Making the security and accuracy of information a priority:

We recognize our obligation to keep information about you secure and confidential. We value your trust and handle information about you with care. First Westroads Bank does not sell or otherwise share any "Nonpublic Personal Information" about you with list brokers, mail-order businesses, or tele-marketers. So, there is no need for you to tell us not to. We limit access to customer information to those associates who have a legitimate business reason for knowing such information. We educate our employees so they understand the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy. We strive to see that customer information is dealt with in a professional manner. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect your personal information.

We have established internal procedures with the goal of seeing that your financial information is accurate, current, and complete. We also have procedures to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner, including processes to update information or remove outdated information. If you have reason to believe that your account information or records are incorrect, you may always contact us and we will investigate your inquiry and make appropriate corrections.

First Westroads Bank will provide notice if there are changes to our privacy policy and you maintain an ongoing relationship with us. In addition, you can always review our privacy policy on our Web site at https://www.firstwestroads.bank/.

Internet Security Statement:

This Internet Banking System brings together a combination of industry-approved security technologies to protect data for the bank and for you, our customer; it features password-controlled system entry, a VeriSign-issued Digital ID for the bank's server, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol for data encryption, and a router loaded with a firewall to regulate the inflow and outflow of server traffic.

To begin a session with the bank's server the user must key in an Access ID and a password. Our Internet Banking System uses a "3 strikes and you're out" lock-out mechanism to deter users from repeated login attempts. After three unsuccessful login attempts, the system locks the user out, requiring either you reset your password with the password reset feature or a phone call to the Bank to reset your password before re-entry into the system. Upon successful login, the Digital ID from VeriSign, the experts in digital identification certificates, authenticates the user's identity and establishes a secure session with that visitor.

Once the server session is established, the user and the server are in a secured environment. Because the server has been certified as a 128-bit secure server by VeriSign, data traveling between the user and the server is encrypted with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. With SSL, data that travels between the bank and customer is encrypted and can only be decrypted with the public and private key pair. In short, the bank's server issues a public key to the end user's browser and creates a temporary private key. These two keys are the only combination possible for that session. When the session is complete, the keys expire and the whole process starts over when a new end user makes a server session.

Requests must filter through a router and firewall before they are permitted to reach the server. A router, a piece of hardware, works in conjunction with the firewall, a piece of software, to block and direct traffic coming to the server. The configuration begins by disallowing ALL traffic and then opens holes only when necessary to process acceptable data requests, such as retrieving web pages or sending customer requests to the bank.

Using the above technologies, your Internet banking transactions are secure.
